From Illegal Refugee to Empowered Coach: How I Turned Silence and Struggle into Purpose.

Have you ever felt your voice didn’t matter? That your dreams were impossible because of your background or circumstances beyond your control?

I have.
As a child labeled an “illegal refugee” in Iran, I grew up silenced, isolated, and invisible. In a culture that valued sons above daughters, education was denied to me simply because of my refugee status. My identity was questioned every day. I was told I was unwanted, unworthy, and powerless.

When my family moved back to Afghanistan during my teenage years, new challenges awaited me. As a woman, pursuing education and independence wasn’t just discouraged—it was considered shameful. Yet, something inside me refused to accept silence as my destiny.

I dreamed of becoming a journalist, a fearless advocate who could speak for women silenced by injustice, oppression, and fear.

But speaking out had consequences. In 2013, due to my activism and courageous reporting, I was forced to flee Afghanistan and seek refuge in Sweden—alone. My father disowned me, and my family turned away. In a foreign land, isolated and battling PTSD, I faced the darkest chapter of my life.

Yet, within that darkness, I found my strength. I decided to rewrite my story—not as a victim, but as a woman who would reclaim her voice, identity, and power.
